Planetary Responsibility Foundation (PRF) has become co-owner of the newly established Nature Development Company (NDC) — a company dedicated to developing large-scale nature restoration projects in the Global South.
The investment strengthens PRF’s mission to reverse biodiversity loss in the worlds most biodiversity-rich areas under threat and change business and government practices to become nature-positive.
Investing in large-scale restoration and community impact
NDC’s projects aim to transform degraded farmland into resilient ecosystems that capture CO₂, restore biodiversity, and generate tangible social and economic benefits for local communities.
Operating at the intersection of biodiversity, climate action, and finance, NDC’s approach demonstrates that investment in nature can create both measurable ecological outcomes and sustainable economic value. The company’s first project portfolio will be launched in Latin America, one of the world’s most biodiverse yet most threatened regions.
“Nature restoration has traditionally relied on philanthropy and public funding,” says Jens Böhme, CEO of Nature Development Company. “Today, emerging market mechanisms for carbon and biodiversity credits allow us to unite capital and nature for real, long-term impact. Our goal is to create a transparent and science-based model for restoring ecosystems at scale.”
A growing market for high-integrity carbon removal
The global market for high-integrity carbon removal credits is expanding rapidly — projected to grow from USD 1.7 billion in 2024 to more than USD 50 billion by 2030. NDC is positioning itself as a trusted next-generation player, setting new standards for quality and accountability.
All projects will follow rigorous Verra certification frameworks to ensure transparency, scientific credibility, and measurable results across climate, biodiversity, and social outcomes.
New management and administration for PRF and NDC
Nature Development Company has been founded by the family behind ALFA Development, Andreea Kaiser, Ludvig Find, and the company’s executive team — CEO Jens Böhme, CCO Kristoffer Sparre, and CBDO Michael Bak — together with the Planetary Responsibility Foundation.
As part of this new venture, Jens Böhme, who has been the CEO of PRF since its establishment, will now take on the role of CEO at NDC. Jesper Buris Larsen will take on the role as Head of Secretariat for the Planetary Responsibility Foundation (PRF).
Partnerships for planetary responsibility
Through its co-ownership of NDC, PRF continues to expand its network of partnerships that unite knowledge, finance, and innovation in pursuit of systemic environmental change. By combining restoration science, investment models, and long-term stewardship, PRF and NDC aim to make ecosystem recovery both viable and scalable.
