Wildlife Photographer of the Year

An Evening with Mogens Trolle

PRF recently welcomed guests to the Natural History Museum of Denmark for an evening centered around nature, storytelling, and our relationship with the living world.

The event began with a visit to the internationally acclaimed Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, where powerful images from across the globe offered intimate glimpses into the beauty and vulnerability of nature.

Following the exhibition, guests joined a live conversation with award-winning wildlife photographer and zoologist Mogens Trolle. Using wildlife photography as a starting point, the discussion explored how visual storytelling can strengthen our connection to nature and inspire greater awareness of the environmental challenges facing the planet today.

Drawing from his experiences in the field, Mogens reflected on the realities of documenting wildlife and ecosystems under pressure, while also sharing perspectives on biodiversity loss, habitat destruction, and humanity’s evolving relationship with nature. The conversation highlighted how photography can serve not only as documentation, but also as a powerful tool for empathy, understanding, and change.

The evening brought together guests from across PRF’s network for thoughtful conversation and shared reflection on sustainability, biodiversity, and planetary responsibility.

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who joined us, and especially to Mogens Trolle for contributing such an insightful and inspiring dialogue.

Nature at Home

An Afternoon with Kristine Virén

On September 10, 2025, PRF welcomed to an intimate, sensory experience on Kristine Virén’s private grounds by Store Dyrehave.

The afternoon began with a small picnic and sparkling wine, where guests enjoyed the atmosphere of Store Dyrehave while Kristine spoke personally about her motivations for buying the place and how the land will shape her family’s life – from a flourishing permaculture kitchen garden to horse keeping and the many ways in which nature is invited to move in and become part of everyday living.

The gathering also offered space for dialogue and networking, bringing guests together around a shared appreciation of nature and sustainable living.

Together with biologist Anna Rex Elmgreen, participants embarked on a guided walk through the surrounding landscape. Along the way, Anna highlighted the forest’s rich plant and animal life and reflected on how biodiversity can be restored and nurtured at both small and large scales. She also shared insights from PRF/Upstream Partners’ Nature Perception Report, which explores how Danes understand and value nature.

This special afternoon wove together personal stories, expert knowledge, and the simple joy of being outdoors – a reminder of how nature, when given space, can transform both landscapes and lives.
